January 26, 2017 by khalsaf Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji was born on January 26, 1682. Today (26/1) marks the birth of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh. When Baba Deep Singh Ji was 12 years old, he traveled to Anandpur Sahib with his parents to meet Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Tenth Sikh Guru). From there onwards, the journey of Baba Deep Singh Ji started and he is remembered for his loyalties to the teachings of the Sikh Guru’s and his martyrdom which serve as examples for all Sikhs on how to live and die with Dignity and Glory. Baba Deep Singh possesses six amazing superhuman feats than the average human being.HERE IS THE LIST OF SIX AMAZING SUPERHUMAN FEATS OF BABA DEEP SINGH JI’S

1. Baba Deep Singh Ji fought with the double-edged sword of weighing over 20kg (40lbs).

Although Baba Deep Singh Ji was 75 years old, he carried the strength of a young warrior. Was it ‘normal’ to carry and fight with such a heavy sword? Of course it wasn’t! Baba Deep Singh Ji was indeed a saint, and he did possess a superhuman strength and could wield this heavy sword. Ask yourself, would you be able to wield such a heavy weapon in a battlefield for long? Well Baba Deep Singh Ji did it time and again.

2. Baba Deep Singh Ji was a master of many languages including Gurmukhi, Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and several other languages.

While at Anandpur Sahib, he immersed himself in his studies of Sikh philosophy and Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scriptures. It is difficult for us to master a single language even though we learn it from childhood! Imagine mastering several languages.

3. Guru Gobind Singh Ji also taught him the art of horsemanship, hunting, arms training and the use of the bow (archery) and other weapons.

At the age of 20, he became one of the bravest warriors in the Khalsa Army. Even today, his life serves as an example for each one of us on how to live as a Sant Sipahi (Saint-Soldier).

4. Baba Deep Singh Ji hand wrote many copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji recited the entire Sri Guru Granth Sahib while Baba Deep Singh Ji and Bhai Mani Singh Ji wrote out the text and distributed it to Sikhs. After its completion, Baba Deep Singh Ji continued, for several years; to hand write four additional copies of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. These four copies were handed over to Akal Takht Sahib, Takht Patna Sahib, Takht Hazur Sahib and Takht Anandpur Sahib. Later he wrote another copy of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Arabic script and sent it to the Middle East.

5. Baba Deep Singh Ji fought beheaded.

In the second engagement with Jahan Khan Forces near the village of Goharwal, Baba Deep Singh Ji and all the Sikhs fought with such great courage that the enemy was almost defeated but soon after large army of reinforcements arrived for Jahan Khan’s men, however Baba Ji and Sikhs continued fighting and advancing towards Amritsar. During the clash, both Jahan Khan and Baba Ji swung their weapons with great force, decapitating Jahan Khan and mortally wounding Baba Ji on his neck. One of the Sikh reminded him of the vowed to die in the precincts of the Harmandir Sahib. He kept his promise by continuing to hold his head up right with his left hand, whilst continuing to fight with his 20kg+ Khanda in his right hand. He reached the periphery of Harmandir Sahib where he breathed his last.

ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥ Those who wish to play the game of love (to follow the Sikh path), come to me with your head in your palm. ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨੦॥ If you wish your feet to travel this path, don’t delay in accepting to give your head.

He is also known as Anokhe Amar Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji. Only someone with spiritual strength could accomplish such a task.

6. Baba Deep Singh Ji killed Wazir Khan who was responsible for Guru Gobind Singh Ji younger Sahibzade’s Shaheedi.

In about 1709, Baba Deep Singh Ji along with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, killed the Wazir Khan who was responsible for the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s younger Sahibzade (Guru Ji’s sons) Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, as well as Mata Gujar Kaur Ji. Although the Muslim army outnumbered the Sikhs significantly, the Sikh army was able to easily defeat the Muslim forces. By killing the Wazir Khan, the chapter of tyranny of this Mughal leader was closed.
